What Is New Year Anyway?

I keep asking myself this one question. What is the new year anyway? when you are aware that you will be keeping everything with you even when you enter the new year then what is this fuss all about? We ‘wish you a happy new year’ I think what you can wish for us is to have a sane new year. Nothing, except for that one digit is going to change.

And no please I don’t want to hear “It’s all in your head.” “Don’t be so gloomy.” Let me be sad, and pathetic just this once. No, I don’t want to say a happy new year to anyone. No, I don’t want to send everyone wishes to have a good new year. It’s not that I want their New Year to be unhappy or something. It’s just that I don’t want to simply because I don’t believe that a change in one digit will help you get happy as if the previous 365 days did.

No single resolution this year because each time I make one, I end up discarding it in the first week. Let’s just take last year’s example; I had one resolution and that was to cry less. And well, I blatantly ignored and cried rivers in the first week. This is why I don’t believe in resolutions anymore. These new years are not for me anymore. I have had a fair share of miseries and madness in the previous four years and now I don’t even want to think that there is going to be a ‘NEW SUN, A NEW HOPE, A NEW DAY’ No, nothing, zero.

But who am I to stop you from celebrating this new year? there is one thing that I know for sure this New Year is going to bring; existential crisis. It will only make me realise that I am running out of time. That soon I will be 23 and what have I done so far? Yeah, these are the only things I am going to have when I see the sun of 23.

I love to see a good-spirited person who is excited about the New Year. I hope you get to have so much fun on the 31st of December when it’s about to change into the 1st Of January 2023.
